Your own domain.

A brand’s Figlix site can answer at a domain it already owns, with SSL, for US$49 a year on top of the plan. You set one DNS record; Figlix checks it.

How it works

  1. Connect it in Figlix. In Website, under Your own domain, type the domain the brand owns. The brand needs its address on Links page first: the domain shows the site at that address.
  2. Pay for the year. Your own domain is US$49 a year, on top of the plan, paid on Stripe. Nothing is changed until it is paid.
  3. Set the record. Figlix shows the one record to set at the company you bought the domain from, and sometimes a TXT record that proves the domain is yours. Add them in that company's DNS settings.
  4. Wait for the check. Figlix looks up the domain's DNS itself, then asks the domain for the site over HTTPS. When the site answers, the domain is live, with SSL. Website checks each time it opens, and Check now checks at once.

The record to set

One of these, depending on the address the site should answer at. Figlix shows the exact one, with any TXT record, in Website.

Questions

How long does it take?

A DNS change can take from a few minutes to a day to reach everywhere. Once the DNS points at the site, HTTPS follows within minutes.

Does it change my email?

No. The record Figlix asks for is an A record or a CNAME for the web address only; your email's MX records are not touched.

What does the site look like at my domain?

The same site as at its figlix.link address: Home, the pages, the blog and the links page. Search engines and assistants are told the domain is its address once it is live.

Will search engines list the site?

Only at the brand's own domain. At its figlix.link address, the site's pages ask search engines not to list them, so it never ranks at an address it will leave. The links page is always open to search.

What happens when I remove it?

Removing it ends the subscription at the end of the paid year. The domain keeps showing the site until then, and the figlix.link address keeps working after.

Can I buy a domain through Figlix?

No. Connect a domain the brand already owns, from any company that sells domains.

Paying, tax and cancelling work as on the billing help page.
